Weekly gap reports

Every week, see exactly which prompts competitors win — and the sources the engines cite to do it.

What a gap report is

A gap report is a weekly snapshot of where the AI answer engines cite competitors or other sources instead of your store. It measures the gap between your own visibility and the best-performing answer for each prompt superAEO tracks on your behalf.

Where the dashboard tells you how you're doing overall, the gap report tells you where you're falling short — the individual questions a shopper might ask an AI engine where someone else gets named and you don't. That makes it the starting point for deciding what to fix next.

When reports arrive

Gap reports refresh automatically every week — you don't have to generate them by hand. Each new report covers the most recent week of tracking and is added to your history so you can compare week over week.

Your first report lands once superAEO has gathered roughly 7 days of tracking data. Until that window fills, the Gap reports page shows a "first report on the way" message instead of an empty screen. This is expected — a single day of data isn't enough to draw a reliable picture, so the app waits until there's a full week to report on.

Tip: The sooner your prompts and collections are set up, the sooner the 7-day clock starts. If you're brand new, get those in place first so your first report isn't delayed.

Reading a report

Each weekly report is presented as a card. At a glance it gives you the headline numbers for the period, plus a short written read on what changed. A report card shows:

  • The period — the date range the report covers (the week being summarized).
  • Your visibility % — your overall visibility across all tracked prompts for that week.
  • The change (delta) — how your visibility moved versus the prior week, up or down.
  • An AI-written summary — a short plain-language explanation of what moved and why it matters.
  • Your top competitor — the brand that won the most visibility against you that week.

Read the summary first for the story, then use the numbers to confirm the magnitude. A small negative delta after a strong week may be noise; a large one alongside a rising competitor is worth acting on.

Citation gaps

Below the headline numbers, the report lists the specific prompts where you're losing — the exact questions where an engine cited a competitor or another source instead of your store. These are your citation gaps.

Every gap carries a severity so you know which ones to close first:

  • Critical — high-value prompts where you're absent and a competitor is firmly established.
  • High — important gaps that are costing you meaningful visibility.
  • Medium — gaps worth addressing once the bigger ones are handled.
  • Low — minor or edge-case gaps to keep an eye on.

Work top-down: closing critical and high gaps first gives you the largest return on effort.

Per-engine breakdown

Visibility isn't uniform across engines — you might be strong on one and invisible on another. The per-engine breakdown shows, for each of the five engines superAEO tracks — ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and DeepSeek — two things for the week:

  • How often you were cited on that engine.
  • Your average rank in the answer when you were cited.

This tells you not just whether you're showing up, but how prominently. Being mentioned last in a long answer is very different from being the first brand named, and the breakdown makes that distinction visible engine by engine.

Exporting reports

On the Max plan you can export any gap report to CSV or PDF — handy for sharing the week's findings with your team, dropping numbers into a spreadsheet, or attaching a clean summary to a status update.

On the Pro plan the export buttons still appear on the report, but they're reserved for Max. Selecting them prompts you to upgrade rather than producing a file.

Note: Report exports (CSV and PDF) are a Max-plan feature. Pro plans can view every report in full but cannot export them.

A gap report tells you where you're losing; your improvement plan is the companion that tells you what to do about it — turning each gap into a prioritized, concrete action.
